Mrs. Freeman's Syllabus
I am so excited to be teaching at Boaz High School. We have much
to learn and it will take both of us to accomplish this. It is my desire to
prepare you for your future. We can meet this goal by working together. If
you ever need to contact me my email address is lfreeman@boazk12.org.
What I expect from you....
1. Daily Attendance (most important!)
2. Follow classroom rules. (Posted in classroom)
3. Bring materials to class.
Materials you need for class:
1. 1 1-inch 3 ring binder
2. Pencil
3. Bring your textbook everyday
4. Pen (blue or black ink only)
5. College-rule paper (No composite notebook paper will be accepted)
Things to Remember:
* Absences need to be kept at a minimum.
* Make up work will be available at request.
* Assignments are due on due date.
* Students are expected to maintain self control and follow safety rules
at all times.
Notebook grade:
Students will periodically be given a notebook test to ensure that he or she is
keeping up their
notebook. All handouts are hole punched so students should keep everything in
the binders
of their notebook. All assignments should be dated so the students will have no
problem locating
their work on the day of the test. These tests will count 100 points. It
is essential for this test that
students makeup work on days they are absent.
Vocabulary Grade:
Before we begin each chapter we will do the vocabulary for each chapter. I will
give students
time in class to do the vocabulary. If some event interrupts class then students
might be asked to
finish the vocabulary at home. It is very important for students to turn in
their vocabulary. This
grade is completely a grade on effort and could make a difference in a letter
grade if they do not
turn these in.
Homework:
We will try to get everything done in class so that we will not have any
homework. Homework
will be assigned only when necessary to keep up with our schedule so that we do
not get behind.
Extra Help:
If any student needs extra help they should let me know and I will be glad to
set up a time after
school so that they can get the help they need.
Website:
I have created a class website for student use. It can be accessed by going to
www.piratepride.org and clicking of the
link for teacher websites. You can also type in
www.piratepride.org/lfreeman.
I have posted class power points on this site for students
to access at home. I also have a link to online games that I have created for
students to
help them study. My personal daily schedule is located under teacher schedule in
case anyone
needs to know when my planning period is.
Student Center:
At the back of the room I have a student center. There is where all students
will turn in
assignments. This is also where they will get things I handed out on a day they
were absent. There
are items such as a stapler and a hole punch that the students may use at any
time. My desk is
completely off limits to students. Students are to take care of items made
available to them or the
items will no longer be made available. Students must ask permission to leave
their seats to visit the
student center unless they have special instructions such as turning in a test
when they are through.
Classroom Rules:
1. Students are to know and obey all rules in the student handbook.
2. Students are not to talk or leave their seats without permission.
3. Students are to bring all necessary materials to class.
4. Students are to be in their seats and prepared to work when the bell rings.
5. Students are expected to turn work in at the appropriate time.
Absents:
When you are absent you are expected to make up your work in the allotted time.
You have
three days to make up your work with an excused absence. When you return to
school you must
go to the bulletin board that is titled "What Did I Miss" and write down the
assignments for the day
you were out. When you bring me your excuse and your list of the assignments I
will give you
everything you need to get caught up
Hall Passes:
Students will be given three hall passes at the beginning of each nine weeks.
These will be used when the student needs to leave the room for any reason. Once
the passes
have been used up the student will not be allowed to leave the room so they must
be used wisely.
If any student have a condition in which they might need to leave the room more
frequently please
let me know about it. I will not allow a student to leave the room if they wait
until a situation arises
to let me know about their condition.
