Career Technical/Cooperative Education
The Career/Technical Cooperative Education program is a structured component of
the Career/Technical Education Curriculum that integrated classroom instruction
and learning with productive, supervised work-based experiences in fields
related to student’s career objectives. Cooperative Education partners students
with employers to provided students with progressive school and work-based
experiences that integrate theory and application.
Cooperative Education work-based experiences and student organization leadership
activities provide many opportunities to enhance classroom instruction and
career development.
Students eligible for participation in the Career/Technical Coop program must
meet
ONE
of the following criteria:
Advanced Cooperative Education
(11th or 12th Grade)
· The
student has completed 2 Career/Technical Education credits in a sequenced
program of study related to the student’s career objective and the student’s job
placement. Advanced Cooperative Education counts toward program completion and
fulfills the 3rd Career/Tech course requirement for the advanced Career/Tech
endorsement for the AHSD. (270 hours=1 credit)
Structured Work Study (12th Grade Only)
· The
student has completed one or more Career/Technical Education credits in any
Occupational Program. The student’s Career Pathway and job placement must be
related. (270 hours=1hour)
To successfully complete the C/T Cooperative Education program, students must
demonstrate ALL of the following:
· Achievement
of work-based experience related to a selected career field.
· Achievement
of regular and continuing current employment.
· Achievement
of a progression of increasingly difficult work-based tasks.

Coordinated Studies is required for the Cooperative
Education program that may be taken before or concurrent
with the work-based training. This course provides students
with the opportunity to evaluate an occupational or career
plan, develop an employment plan, and prepare a
career/employment portfolio. Students build on prior
knowledge, strengths, interests, and needs that enhance
preparation for future employment and continuing
education/training. |

Work Study requirements to be eligible for Cooperative
Education. Coordinated Studies must be taken before or
concurrent with the first semester of work.
NOTE:
Students must be 16 and have successfully completed the 10th
grade, not be deficient on the high school exit exam or
deficient in required courses, and be physically and
mentally capable of performing tasks of the career
objective.
